Do you write better at home or at your favorite place? When writing, do you prefer the quiet of a library or the hustle and bustle of a desired coffee shop? Do you prefer the atmosphere to be well-lit or dim with only a warm glow of light as you write?
There really are a ton of options to choose from. The one that best suits you is going to be completely different from the one I'd prefer. And what once fit your preferences may have totally changed over time. For example, I once loved sitting in my favorite coffee shop, inhaling the freshly brewed coffee aroma, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of people.
But now, I prefer to write in my home office. I have the perfect spot with my desk facing a grand window with the view of trees and bushes, the bright sun or cloudy sky depending on the day. Inspiration takes over as I gaze for a moment out the window, imagining all the wonder in the world. Characters emerge as I take a moment to enjoy nature.

Best part, I still get to enjoy my favorite coffee. I just brew it at home and refill as often as needed. I play music, instrumental, of course. I sit beside my home library that's conveniently located in my office, a thousand books by authors I admire, and some I even had the pleasure of meeting. I get inspiration from their work. From their own personal stories. Inspiration can be found anywhere. We just have to be open to it. Whether it's a sunny day, a rainy day, a snappy tune, or the motivational words of a trusted source, inspiration happens and when it does, take advantage.

Currently, I'm finishing up the last part of my new book Small Town Boys and a few short stories for thespicyspot.com. I'm hard at work updating my website and blog, as well. Lots to do and I'm excited to be able to do it. I found inspiration just by creating a list of things I wished to accomplish this year. Not writing over the last 2 years was difficult and something I missed very much. So now, I'm taking advantage of the renewed self and the chance to get back involved in the writing community and my readers. I've missed you.
